We are thrilled to announce a wonderful addition to the Connected Roots team. With a deeply personal and compassionate approach to therapy, we proudly welcome Morgan Slagell, a dedicated counselor ready to help you navigate life's most challenging transitions. Her arrival marks a new chapter for our practice, expanding our ability to provide a warm, collaborative, and empowering space for personal growth and healing.

Morgan’s approach is rooted in creating a secure environment where clients feel truly seen and heard. Her therapeutic style is relational, focusing on building a strong, trusting connection with her clients. She believes you are the expert of your own story, and her role is to walk alongside you as you explore it. At the heart of her practice is a desire to help you embrace all parts of yourself - both present and past versions - with compassion and empathy. This is where the profound work of healing and self-discovery begins.

A Therapeutic Toolkit For Modern Life

To help clients connect with their inner world, Morgan utilizes a blend of powerful modalities. She is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based approach that helps individuals embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting with them. ACT encourages you to accept what is out of your control and commit to actions that enrich your life, guiding you towards a path aligned with your values.

Morgan also incorporates inner child work, a modality focused on healing past relational wounds. This helps individuals understand how earlier experiences might be impacting their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By compassionately engaging with these younger parts of themselves, clients can unlock new levels of empathy and self-forgiveness. Finally, her practice is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), a Rogerian approach that emphasizes unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuine connection. This foundation ensures that every session with Morgan is a safe space for authentic expression and self-exploration.

A Counselor Who Understands The Journey

Morgan’s personal experiences inspired her path to becoming a counselor. As a mother of two, she intimately understands the struggles of severe postpartum depression, anxiety, and the sense of identity loss that can accompany motherhood. Her personal journey fueled her passion to support other mothers facing similar difficulties. This invaluable lived experience allows her to connect with her clients on a profoundly empathetic level, creating a unique bond of understanding and trust.

Her dedication to helping others led her to pursue a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Southern Nazarene University, which she completed in 2024. This academic foundation, combined with her real-world wisdom, makes her a well-rounded and effective therapist.

Specialized Support For Young Adults And The LGBTQIA+ Community

Morgan has extensive experience working with individuals navigating major life transitions, which is a common challenge for many young adults. She offers a supportive space for college students dealing with academic stress, identity questions, and the pressures of newfound independence. Her work also extends to young adult women and LGBTQIA+ individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, identity issues, or past relational wounds.

Morgan Slagell’s clients have consistently felt an immediate sense of safety and trust with her. One client shared, "She made me feel safe to talk about anything and made me feel heard, supported, and helped me grow as I navigated some of the most challenging months of my life. I am so blessed to have had her as my therapist!"

Another client praised her compassionate presence, stating, “Morgan played a crucial role in my healing after divorce. Her willingness to meet me where I was with kindness and respect was helpful on multiple levels and I will be forever grateful for the time spent in therapy with Morgan.” These glowing reviews are a testament to Morgan’s genuine and effective approach.
